ANSI STANDARDS
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) sets different safety
standards that are enforced by OSHA. Different jobs require different
minimum standards to be safe.
TYPES
There are three types of ANSI HiVis gear:
TYPE O – OFF-ROAD
TYPE R – ROADWAY
TYPE P – PUBLIC SAFETY
Each type offers specific features to meet
the safety concerns of different jobs.
CLASSES
There are four classes of ANSI gear:
CLASS 1 CLASS 2 CLASS 3
CLASS E (SUPPLEMENTAL)
Each Class increases the amount of HiVis
material and reflective tape on the garment.
Class E are pants or bib overalls that can be
added to an outfit to raise the Class rating.
CSA CERTIFIED
To be CSA certified, the garment needs to
have an X shape of reflective tape on the
back to indicate which direction the wearer
is facing.
HIGH-VISIBILITY
RefrigiWear® offers a wide range of high-visibility (HiVis) garments
as well as handwear, footwear and headwear with HiVis accents
because we know that absolutely nothing comes before the safety
of your workforce. Many stock garments can also be customized to
include reflective tape. Please contact our Customer Service Team for
customized garment requests at 800.645.3744.
The ANSI classification of a garment is determined by:
The amount of background material (HiVis Orange or Lime) plus the
amount of reflective material and its placement.
